Computer Application on Risk Sensitive Land Use Planning of Sunakothi VDC, Lalitpur

All the infrastructural development occurs on land. Land is the major resource and there is the limitation of supply of land in urban area. There should be maximum utilization of land in order to get planned settlement. In the name of settlement and planning we see that the settlements are done in forest or agriculture land. Not only that the settlement takes place in the very risky area which is very vulnerable to flood, landslide, earthquake and so on. So in order to protect the lands for the particular use, the planning is done. The allocation of land for certain purpose is generally known as Land use planning. ‘The term land-use is meant to signify the use of land and water bodies as well as buildings and installations. It covers the multitude of ways that land is utilized. The analysis of land-use pattern of a country or a locality will provide an indication of resource potentials and how they are allocated. It also shows development trends and imbalances.’ (joshi, 2008) The land use planning does not integrate the risk reduction of the planning site so new approach to land use planning is used as risk sensitive land use planning.
